ABOUT THIS MONTHS DESIGNER
Robbie Budai, age 25, lives in a renovated carriage house known as “The Shack” in the historic neighborhood Woodbridge in Midtown Detroit. There, he and his roommate host musical events and run a community garden. Robbie graduated in 2006 from the University of Michigan with a bachelors degree in fine arts. He is a self trained luthier (stringed instrument builder) specializing in custom hand-built electric guitars as well as guitar repair and maintenance. He spends much time playing guitar in the band Noman and doing in-house screenprinting and graphic design for Woodbridge Records, a Record label founded in January of 2009 with two of his bandmates that aims to promote local bands such as I.Crime, The Summer Pledge and Noman. Robbie feels grateful to be surrounded by so many fine artists and musicians, such as Frank and Nicole Raines of Funk Night and Slow Jams, who recognize the importance giving back to the community through artistic expression.
